I need a prayer

I need a prayer, God,
and there doesn’t seem to be one handy.
No particular image jumps out.
No words.
Just the awareness—
even amidst gratitude and opportunity,
amidst rest and music and worship—
friendship and fellowship—
the awareness of overwhelming loss and grief,
of deep anger and profound confusion,
of stress building—
and building more and ever more,
of a bone-deep weariness,
of hope, yes,
but hope unsure of its integrity,
faith questioning its foundations,
and prayer the point of which escapes too many.
All of which we bring to You, God,
with as many doubts as affirmations,
in Jesus’ name,
