I walked to one of the nearby hospitals the other day
to see someone before surgery.
The sun was out after snow,
and I wondered, before I left,
about taking my camera.
Ended up deciding not to.
Decided to walk looking to see if I should have.
So spent the walk there,
and, particularly, the walk back—
not sure why …
was it the angle of the sun?
Was it that I walked downhill there,
my gaze directed out and over,
while walking uphill back,
my gaze was more into the landscape?
I’m not sure why, but spent the walk there,
and, particularly, the walk back,
seeing that I should have.
Saw sun on snow, snow on trees,
sun on running water
between, over and through snow covered rocks.
Saw a red tailed hawk soar across the road
right in front of me
pose on the branch closest to the road.
Regretted not having my camera, yes,
but enjoyed all I saw
I would love to have taken a picture of.
