We rode the Nordkettenbahn system
up out of Innsbruck:
a funicular up to where we had lunch,
and then two connecting cable cars
to stand at 2256 meters
looking across the valley
at the craggy peaks of the Karwendel mountain range—
looking across the city at 18 different peaks
exceeding 3000 meters (almost 10,000)
in the stark and absolute contrast of civilization and wilderness.
So on the way down, we had a snowball fight!
