The second house in which we lived in Switzerland
is no longer there
(our third home in Switzerland has also been torn down
to make room for more of the condos
that were down the street from us when we lived there,
and I didn’t get down to where our first home was
[one more village down the lake]—
though I think I did catch a glimpse of it from a train).
The house in which we lived is no longer there.
Torn down when an insurance company
bought what was the seminary.
But the memories remain,
and I find I do not really regret the loss
of what truly cannot be lost.
