at the Amsterdam Van Gogh museum, i.

I would think them all priceless masterpieces—
works of one of the acknowledged world masters
in the art museum named after him,

the museum is itself carefully intentional
to note and convey
how much of Van Gogh’s work was process,
and amidst process progress
(with improvement in certain skills)
in the ongoing conversation
between Van Gogh
and his chosen form of expression—

what he saw, what he wanted to convey
and how he was always learning to convey it—

in study, in practice,
in curious intentional interaction with fellow artists
about matters technical and artistic—
studying what others did and how—
learning from them—
incorporating elements of their work into his own.

Nothing was seen as an end—
nothing a conclusion,
all part of ever more to see and say.
