The blue whale, I learned,
weighs twenty times what an elephant does,

and yet has none of the characteristics
of a weight bearing skeleton.

That’s because in water,
a blue whale is weightless.

It weighs more than an elephant,
but is weightless.

Its context outweighs its own form,

and so we who choose our contexts
should be much more careful
than we tend to be.
