We enter Holy Week
knowing so much of the story—
personally knowing so much of the story.
We know the savage sounds of rejection.
We know the vicious wounds of betrayal.
We know the poisonous stench of injustice.
We know the agonizing sight of fear and pain.
We know the bitter taste of death.
But we also know the joy of love.
We also know the grace found in community.
We also know the hope shining through forgiveness.
We also know the peace and beauty
of commitment and sacrifice on behalf of others.
And within what we know, we believe.
We believe that Easter is a verb—
that resurrection is Your way of being among us—
And so we pray
for wisdom, courage, and persistence
in choosing the best of what we know,
trusting the truth of what we believe,
and all days,
in the name of the one who first walked through this week
we would come to call holy,
