This prayer we pray
we know You know,
and yet we pray it anyway.
Because we know more than You know—
ha! Trouble there.
Because we know that more than You know,
This deep truth it mystifies—
the God who laughs, the God who cries
and in response to our own lives.
It mystifies, yet comforts too,
and so our God, we do thank You—
not for any fixing or explaining You have to do,
but simply because we matter to You—
our hopes, our fears, our joys and tears.
This we celebrate in Jesus’ name,
whose life suggests, he knew the same.
