Inasmuch as we are all—
each one of us—
created in the image of God,
and inasmuch as we claim to follow God
in the way of Jesus,
we are to follow God in the way of Jesus—
as detailed for us in Scripture
and the best traditions of what it means to be the Church.
Inasmuch as following God in the way of Jesus
when we are all—each one of us—created in the image of God
involves respect, appreciation—
love for each and every person,
we are to love others as we love ourselves—
consistently challenging ourselves asking
what transformative good it does to love only those who love us.
Inasmuch as we do to transform reality
for the least of these,
the world shifts—it adjusts
and changes for us all.
We call this process justice—
less an assessment and evaluation
of what any one person does
as the consequence of what we all do.
