beginning again

Here we go again!
January has rolled around again.
New Year, 2012.
Wow!

Are you the resolution type or not?
Some years I’ve made them, some years I haven’t.

This year, though, I’m thinking to make some proclamations.
Not resolutions.
Proclamations.
Ready?

It’s going to be a great year for the Church.
Did you know that?
I proclaim it!
Not only is it going to be a great year for the Church,
it’s going to be a year in which we make great strides
toward the redeeming of all creation.
Did you know that?
And it’s going to be a great year for God!
How about that?
Now how does all that sound?
Too grandiose? Presumptuous? Silly?

Yet it is going to be a year we incorporate more of our faith into our living.
And yes, that means more prayer, more Bible study,
more service, more worship, more giving, more grace,
but it even more basically means:
more boldly believing,
more trustingly hoping,
more assuredly loving.

That will make it a great year for the Church.
That will make it a year in which creation perks up
anticipating the revealing of the children of God.
That will make it a year in which God revels.

Because, you see, that’s all it really takes:
more faith made manifest in life.

Now, as we’ve said so many times before, that’s not easy.
It’s simple, but it’s not easy.

But until it’s not, it can be.
So why not?
Why not this year?
Why not now?

More faith as living. 2012.
